Hilla Katki (they/them) is a principal product designer at Understood leading the design of the Understood app for parents of kids with learning and thinking differences, like ADHD and dyslexia.
Previously, they were a lead product designer at Medium, and before that, a product design director at The New York Times, where they led design strategy and user experience on the Reader Experience team, which produced innovative digital products and new services to Times readers.
Before that, Hilla was the design director for a data visualization team at Bloomberg. They have also held positions in graphic and interaction design at Pentagram and Linked by Air, where they designed interactive displays, websites, and data visualizations for corporate clients and cultural institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago, GE, Center for Urban Pedagogy, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. They also taught for 5 years in the MFA in Interaction Design program at SVA.
Hilla holds an MFA in graphic design from Yale University and a BA in mathematics and economics from Bryn Mawr College. Their work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and featured on Design Observer.
